Join the instruments that exist into one layer.
FromA new financial product→ToA shared finance layer
Every instrument that financed Meera’s journey already existed. What made them reachable from her first commitment was the layer beneath them. This last shift asks whether that layer could be built as one, and tested in a single corridor.
Every instrument already existed
Look back at Meera’s journey illustrative. Creation capital, stockist credit, trade finance, receivables discounting and portfolio financing all existed. What made them reachable from her first commitment was the layer beneath: roles, states, credentials, evidence, independence checks, consent, transition rules, identity, a graph and shared measures.
That layer is what the network built.
From a product to a layer
- Invoice

- Capability
- activity
- evidence
- exposure
- capital
| Today | On an open network |
|---|---|
| Financial objects: invoices, receivables, portfolios | Financeability that emerges from network activity |
| Instruments that start once an object exists | An on-ramp from the first commitment |
| Each instrument on its own | Instruments orchestrated across one journey |
The instruments already exist. What’s new is plugging them into open rails.
How it would work
An orchestration layer. It asks, continuously: What risk exists now? Who is equipped to bear it? What evidence makes it financeable? When should another provider take it?
- Network commerce
- verified evidence
- risk intelligence
- capital orchestration
- existing regulated finance
- capital recycling
It connects to a rail for refinancing and distribution, and stays distinct from regulated lending, payment and settlement. Each economic function is mapped to its regulatory perimeter.
For one brand, the sequence runs from capability to network activity, evidence, peer validation, a verified transaction, a financeable exposure, a portfolio and, finally, institutional capital.

What already exists
The pieces are live. TReDS discounts accepted MSME invoices under Reserve Bank Directions issued in June 2026[1]. The Unified Lending Interface gives lenders one gateway across the loan lifecycle, and had 64 lenders by December 2025[2]. Co-lending lets two regulated lenders share a loan[3], and banks may securitise eligible trade receivables[4]. Private lenders already finance online brands: on 8 October 2026 one debt platform announced ₹500 crore for D2C brands this fiscal year[5].
Scope. We haven’t tested the layer end to end. We don’t know how evenly the instruments above reach new brands, or whether a regulated lender would accept the layer’s evidence.
The regulatory perimeter
The layer carries evidence and routes exposures. Regulated entities carry the lending, discounting, guarantees and securitisation. Lending and co-lending sit under the Reserve Bank’s Directions[3]. Invoice discounting runs on an authorised TReDS platform[1]. Securitisation by banks follows its own Directions[4]. Pooled capital from investors, guarantees by non-banks and insurance sit under rules we haven’t mapped. We would map them with counsel before any pilot.
What would have to be true
- Capability is observable.
- Creation capital creates evidence.
- Peer commitments add information.
- Verified transactions improve underwriting.
- Continuous underwriting improves capital efficiency.
- Better evidence produces better economics.
- Capital actually recycles.
- Participants actually use the network.
- The evidence is trustworthy and governable.
Getting it right
Start with one corridor, a single category in a single region, and run the whole layer end to end on small sums.
Design against false financeability: weak evidence mistaken for sufficient evidence would lead to too much capital, stock piling up and losses.
Publish how it was built, so that others can build corridors of their own.
Who it helps. New brands reach the right capital from their first commitment. Providers fund what they can see. Stockists, nodes and collectives are financed for the work they do. And the network gets a finance layer it can share.
What could go wrong
- False financeability.Weak evidence mistaken for enough would bring excess capital, stock piling up and losses, so every block states what evidence is enough, and exposure is capped until it is shown.
- A layer nobody uses.If participants don’t adopt it, nothing flows, so the pilot measures use.
- The perimeter crossed.Carrying out a regulated activity by accident would end the pilot, so every such function sits with a regulated entity.
- Everything at once.Twelve blocks are too many to launch together, so each is added only once the last has proved itself.
How we’d test it
One live corridor: a single category in a single region, with a creation-capital fund, a regulated lender, a dozen brands, a few stockists and one or two nodes.
- The test
- The whole layer, end to end
- What we would measure
- Run the full layer on small sums and check each of the nine conditions under real conditions. Compare trade per unit of risk capital with a corridor that doesn’t get the layer.
- What would end the idea
- Any of the nine conditions fails under real conditions and can’t be fixed cheaply, or the corridor shows no more trade per unit of risk capital than the comparison.

These are hypotheses for open networks to test, not conclusions. The architecture now has to prove itself in the real economy.
